[The following is in response to my email with the contrasts between the european and US models on wind speeds for Friday's storm. Alan responded:]

I wrote met bob and he said to go north and deploy the drogue on Friday for a several hours. I thinks that's a mistake so I wrote him back to ask him about the option to go south a little.
We probably can get to 97 by Thursday and about 95 by Friday but not any better I'm afraid. In the ECMWF what is the position of the center of the low? You say 2 degrees, so 45d?
