Taya's voyages after Patagonia

After Chilean "canales" from Puerto Montt to Puerto Williams in 2019, In 2020, Taya moves up the South Atlantic Coast, from Tierra Del Fuego to Baltimore.

Patagonia continued: Departing Puerto Aguirre!

Katy Clay | Sunny, barometer rising...
We have been here for a couple weeks, with a visit from Evan and Rachel, and lovely side trips to Caletas Rosita, and Olea on Orestes Island. Once our kids left, we moved 500 lbs from starboard to port to restore equilibrium. We have been provisioning for weeks it seems, as the October photo from Angelmo market in Puerto Montt shows. Our friends Jean Claude and Francoise just got here from Puerto Montt on Sunday, so we now head south together in our two sailboats to the channels leading to the Gulf of Penas. Thanks to Jaime and Marina Austral here in Puerto Aguirre for a great stay!

Sadly, no more Internet for a month probably, but we have great reading material on board. In the last month and a half, I have the second chapter of my book drafted, (on bees in early Russian culture) and am turning to the 3rd chapter on bees and bee products in the political economy of pre-modern Rus and Muscovy.

We saw some enormous bees gathering nectar in this Chilean spring when we visited a Chonos refuge cavern in the park near Caleta Pozo on Monday between the heavy spring showers. They make their nests on the side of the cove here, and so far I haven't found anyone keeping bees here.
