April 29: Lumpy seas, chaotic ride

01 May 2020
Alan Cresswell and Katy Clay | overcast and very humid
Still sailing really well, averaging about 8kts over the last 400nm!
The weather is better: it is not raining but still pretty overcast and very humid. Not much traffic here, about one boat a day. Right now we have a fishing boat about 4 miles ahead which is probably trawling because he's going a 0.8kts!
This part of the trip is very much like the part we'd done with brad and kay on the schooner: seas are lumpy, ride is chaotic but wind is good and we're reeling in miles, actually almost 200 a day rather than the 120-130 we did with the schooner in these conditions. There is so much sargasso weed that we've given up fish because reeling in 400ft of line with a big clump of sargasso at the end is hard work
indeed: just like a good size mahi mahi.
