Hello my Bloggers! Last night was quite a ride. If you can imagine 25-30 kts of wind right on your nose and swells 10+ high all around you...it's hard to do anything! Brushing your teeth even brings on a whole new dynamic: wait for a swell to rise, open the cupboard grab your brush and paste with lightning speed, close door so all the other unwanted articles don't end up on the deck. Sit on the pot to apply paste to brush..get it wet in sink, sit back on pot and scrub away. When done and before rinse & set, spit contents in mouth into sink and watch it roll around for a few minutes while coming up with a Dr. Suis song in your head about the whole encounter....come on, gotta do something to break up the monotony!
Then remember my last entry about the mechanical bull analogy?? well bump him up to level 4, that's what sleeping is like in small craft advisory! Good news is, according to my top secret sources who were totally off so far, it's supposed to drop to 5 kts and swing around to the N/NE which would suit me just fine for the leg from Eureka to Bodega...we are still putting in there due to predictions of 25-30+ knots on Thurs/Fri...I'm sure I will come up with some entertaining things to write about from there.
So, we should hit Eureka entrance somewhere around midnight to 3am depending on if the winds lighten up or not. I was woke from my slumber with a new challenge today...with all the pitching and rolling the outboard bracket broke and my Honda 20 was upside down still on the rail, casing rubbing on the deck. Dingy lines were loose and everything was heaving back and forth...so on with the rain gear and out I went on the pitching deck to fix the problem. Now my motor has big scratches on it and the dink has 2 spots where the lines chafed almost all the way through the pontoon.....I really shudda cudda wudda stowed it on deck. THat'll be a Bodega project.
All for now, gotta go fix the chartplotter again...Dad just keeps pushin buttons, pushin buttons...right Mom??!?? (it might have been me this time)
