settling in....

Yesterday was groundhog day with the wx, sun, clear skies and the like. Dad called me from the hotel at 1045am wondering if I wanted to go to breakfast. I quickly replied, "DUDE! It's almost lunch time!" He replies, "DUDE?...hey I just woke up, and really don't give a damn what time it is! I haven't worn a watch in years since I retired!"....butthead-
Like I told my friend Craig-Fab in Anacortes yesterday on the phone...I'm FINALLY starting to relax and say...manana, do it manana....much like everyone here, the paralysis is setting in.
I finished up my chores on email and blog then went to find captain dad at the beach. So there he was, all sprawled out on a chair, on the beach....kicked back and baking up in the sun. I forgot the SD card to my camera, so sorry no picture. Some dude came by selling skewered prawns for 25 pesos...(2 bucks) so I had some with mouth burning hot sauce....guess where my next stop was? Yep, palapa bar for a soothing Modelo to soften the pain...I mean, uh, 2 modelo's...as I was talking to Susan, a gal at the bar with a very big drink in a coconut. Come to find out she's looking for my friends next door on "Traveller" so of course I invited her and her boyfriend down that night for drinks and our dingy run up the canal to eat at a local open type bar.
I left Dad and went back to the boat to launch the dink and deploy the motor for a rapid transit up the waterway. Phil next door was sweating his butt off trying to get the wood floor panels in his Avon....now I felt for him since that was the nighmare setup I sold to my good ol' pal T-man after buying my RIB (hard bottom) dingy. I helped him coax the cranky panel into the bottom then went back to my boat and pushed a button....reeeeeeeeerrrrrrr, down goes the dingy in the water all automatic and stuff. I get a glance from Phil (glazed with sweat) the kind of "Screw you" in a most loving way a man could send it. I just smiled and thought to myself, yeah, I suck!
I had to of course do the perennial fast solo run up the waterway to "make sure" everything was ok. Me, no shirt, shorts, bare feet....screaming up the canal at 20mph....then comes a jetski. Two locals on it, see me, hit the gas...game on! Of course these things now go over 60, it was a short lived game of duck and dodge....then they turned, I hit their wake full bore, came flying out of my seat, started swaying back and forth over the wake again and almost said hello to the alligators! (uh, how old am I?)
Dad, Phil and I jumped in to check out the bar up river, found out it was booked solid all night, so my little dingy extravaganza evening got the big kibosh. We walked down to the Yacht Club and had dinner. (that's the pic)
That's my day amigos & amigas....lets see what unfolds today!
Ciao for now-
