A Day at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary
Well today was the day! I finally got to see some of the beautiful Australian Wildlife. What a great time. George decided that on his last day of his holidays, he wanted to get off the boat and not spend the time at a boat store (WOW!) He took me to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. This place is fantastic, so much better than Australia Zoo. We saw Lorikeets, Wombats, the Sheep Dogs at work, Crocodiles, Snakes (ugh), Lizards, Bush Turkeys, and loads of Koala's and Kangaroo's. I did not want to go home and cannot wait to go back. Please see the photo album of the animals and me (yes Michelle, ME!). Thank you to my wonderful husband, I had a great time.

Here are more pictures of Peel Island. What a beautiful place. We are home now at Rivergate Marina as the winds changed from NE to SE. SE winds will be pushing boats toward the shore (as you know), and all those plastic boats would be crushed by our 27 1/2 Ton steel one. Rather be home and have the aircon on. We had a wonderful time and are so glad that Jackie and Grant were there to enjoy it with us (the beautiful black boat in the pictures). We did however miss our family and friends. Christmas is just not the same in this heat and not having the family around us. Maybe next year! Michelle and Richard are having a wonderful time down south and from what they have told us they had a wonderful Christmas. They are on there way back to Brisbane for a while before they go further north. We cannot wait for you to get back! Check out the photos in our photo gallery.
From the beginningThe Story of Warida
The Story of Warida starts in 1973. She was designed by Frank Bolaise for Norm White (Commodore of the QCYC). Norm White commissioned Frank Boliase to design a vessel that would travel the world. Unfortunately due to health reasons, Norm was forced to sell the boat to Nev Taylor. Nev motored for a while and eventually put her in dry-dock for seven years to refit the inside. Nev decided after experiencing health problems that he would sell the boat. George and I stumbled upon Warida during one of George's trips to the dry-dock. George called me an told me that he had found our boat.
Upon my arrival in Australia in 2001, we purchased a Hartley 38' Ferro Cement Cabin Cruiser which burned to the waterline on our honeymoon, and sunk off Mud Island. Needless to say, we were happy to find Warida as she is a well made, and a comfortable home for us now. We purchased Warida on 23/10/2003.
George and I completed a few items and launched her on 6/1/2004. We Moored for a few years at Newport Marina and made lots of new lifelong friends until the Marina changed hands and became impossible to moor there. (A long story, will tell you some day when we meet).
Upon leaving Newport, George decided that we would go on the hardstand again to make more changes, and to be land bound until our wonderful, loving cats had passed. You can see the before and after pictures to see what he has accomplished. There is still more to do and he works tirelessly every weekend to make her livable.
