Happy New Year

01 January 2009 | San Carlos, Mexico
John Warren
Sharon and I want to wish our friends a Happy New Year.

We have been in San Carlos, Mexico for several weeks now preparing Warren Peace for another cruising season. She is off the cradle, back in the water and pretty much ready to sail. We have been working non stop for the past two weeks getting her systems up and running, putting food and clothing on board and making her ready to go back to sea.

Tomorrow night we will cross the Sea of Cortez and head over to the Baja...a short 95 mile (15 hour) run which will put us in one of our favorite anchorages...San Juanico. We plan to be in LaPaz or in the islands off of LaPaz anchored within the next three to four days.

Our friends in Grants Pass, Oregon have been e-mailing us saying that the weather there has been less than desireable...can you spell "snow"? I have been e-mailing them back saying that the weather here is in the low to mid seventies almost every day...what's the problem? The sunrises and sunsets here are absolutely gorgeous, but from the pictures they sent me of our front gate...the snow actually looks gorgeous also. You just can't wear shorts and flip flops in the snow!

So...I'll try to keep you updated on this blog. I'm learning how to use it as I type this blog.

Sharon and I want to wish all of you a very Happy New Year. We wish you all well throughout 2009 and many years to come.

About: We discovered sailing early in our marriage and have loved being on the water ever since. We started sailing on San Francisco Bay on a Catalina 27 and then upgraded to a Catalina 36. We then realized that we wanted to eventually go cruising and bought the boat that we have now...a Passport 47.
Sharon and I have cruised up and down the California coast many times and sailed in the 2000 Baja Ha Ha. The four Amigos took Warren Peace down the coast on the 2002 Baja Ha Ha. The boat's home base has been San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico for the past several years. Moving Warren Peace to the [...]
