And so to bed

The last week has passed in something of a blur as we have put the boat to bed and sought to balance this with some more fun things to do in one of the most beautiful parts of the world.

Journey's end

When we last completed a blog, we were looking for some wind to get some respite from the mirror flat seas we were experiencing. We found it!

Dominica

30 January 2019 | Dominica
The young guns arrived in Dominica to be met by the Rastafarian Daniel who took the crew on a fantastic tour of the Indian River. The flowers and wildlife were incredible and we immediately had a soft spot for the island. The next day we were taken on a half day tour with the lovely Paul where we saw a huge variety of vegetation. Every fruit and vegetable farm under the sun and some lovely little coffee farmers! We hiked up a hill (leaving Paul to find somewhere to leave the car) and were met by a Carib Indian by the name of Nixon who came out of the bushes and was heading towards us wearing nothing but a bit of loin cloth and carrying a humongous Machete... Luckily he was delightful and promptly introduced us to his dog 'Putin' and pet snake which he kept in a huge metal urn. He chopped down some oranges for us and dug up some ginger for Grace who was feeling a little under the weather. Paul came and joined us and led us to an amazing waterfall.

On our way back to the boat that evening we were invited to the local beach reggae night and BBQ. After a few strong rum punches the crew was flying... Stevie Wonder was dropping some serious moves and was certainly feeling a little squiffy when the clock struck twelve. Cinderella had to go home!

The next morning the lads got up early doors (5am) to begin our 75 mile journey down to Martinique. A long sail ahead of us and some slightly sore heads. Who knows what's round the corner!
