Mostly windy and some rain all last week. We have only managed to get the boat out once. We went out to snorkel and fish off the reefs outside of No Name Cay, but the fish weren't biting and the ocean was still too jumpy to snorkel. I did get in the water to check the anchor and on the way back into the boat a wave threw me into the overhanging dinghy prop. Got myself a scalp lac, lots of blood. Still no fish though, so we moved to a previously successful spot off the old cruise ship channel by Great Guana. Immediately caught a fat mangrove snapper and a queen trigger fish. Pics should be there by tonight at www.picasaweb.google.com/bcaldoc. Good eating.
A weird thing happened when Tom was cleaning the fish later on the dock. He left them both on the dock and jumped onto the boat to get his knife, but the queen trigger had jumped into the water. Four hours dead! Anyway, in he went to get it back, still alive but just barely. When he finished cleaning them both, I opened the cooler to clean it out and there was our queen trigger fish! Both of us were stumped, I guess someone had brought in a queen triggerfish, maybe ruptured its swim bladder and then let it go. So we ended up with two triggerfish. Bonus!
