Horrible crossing yesterday. The weather forecast was for south winds around 10 knots, what we got was west winds over 20 knots gusting to 27 and right on our nose. That meant motoring through 6ft waves all the way. Yuk! I hate crossings! Anyway we made it safe and sound, trailing the dinghy with no mishaps. We will rest here for a day or two before tackling the trip to Bimini. On a positive note, we have found a welder here, name of Victor, recommended by other boaters. He is fixing our stanchion as we speak. That means we will be able to hoist the motor into the cockpit and lift the dinghy on the davits. Dont know if we will ever be able to go back to raising the dinghy on the davits with the motor on. That four stroke motor (only legal kind in the States when we bought it) weighs 90lbs and it is only 9.9 hp.

About:
We are a Canadian couple from Shelburne, Ontario. Tom is a retired printing plant owner and former pilot. Barb is a family doctor who sold her practice in April of 2009 and now works as a full time emergency physician when she is not sailing. [...]
Extra: We decided to sail after Barb read a book called "An Embarassment of Mangoes". We learned to sail in Pensacola Florida in 2009 from Captain Rick Cumby and bought our boat, a 2002 Gemini 102 MC, hull 783 a week later.
