Day 1 Honolulu to Blaine

16 June 2016 | North East Pacific, 24°30.00'N:159°07.00'W
Wayne
This is our second day out but we are going to report our Day 1 travel here-hence the title as is. We are currently with the wind slightly forward of the starboard beam and are holding a nice close reach. Winds are between 20 and 35 knots and the seas are 3 meters and are coming from exactly the same direction as the wind so we are getting pummeled on occasion. One wave even sneaked up right under the side cover of the enclosure with it closed and drenched Bill and I and the cockpit! Anyway, for the most part we are doing well enough with the double reefed main and partially furled genoa. If the sea wasn't so rough we'd be really flying! Our 24 hr run for Day 1 was 158.2 NM. If it weren't for being on the lee of Oahu we'd have done a lot better, but were definitely not complaining!
