South Puget Sound is an often overlooked cruising ground. And for us having grown up in Puyallup, it is an area we are very familiar with. But having been in southern Oregon for many years it is fun reacquainting ourselves with the area. When we were kids Des Moines was not much more than a gas station at a crossroads on old highway 99. A few homes but that is about it. Today it is a busy waterfront community with many good restaurants, stores, businesses, and a great marina. We thoroughly enjoyed the Des Moines Creek Trail and the delicious Hot Dog restaurant after the hike. The trail was blooming with wildflowers. The creek was babbling, the songbirds were singing, and being in the flight path of Seatac airport, the planes were flying loudly. There were many robins on the trail as well as squirrels and rabbits. By mid afternoon even the sun came out to make the day that much brighter.
