We've had a relaxing time in Port Vila waiting for the Pacific Circuit Rally to gather together for the passage to New Caledonia. Yesterday we completed the formal clearance process in the most enjoyable way, with Customs and Immigration officials seated at tables on the large covered patio of the Anchor Bar and Grill overlooking lovely Port Vila Harbor (see photo above) with the crew of about 24 other cruising yachts, all organized by the rally. They have a similar experience (we hope) waiting for us on the outer island of Ouvea in New Caledonia this Tuesday. So tomorrow morning (Sunday) we will drop our mooring line bright and early and head SSW! The passage is a short one, about 200 miles, and the winds are predicted to be light and on the beam, so we're looking forward to a very pleasant 30-hour sail. Next stop, Ouvea!
