Climbed the Lighthouse
19 February 2013 | Hope Town
It is Monday and we decide to spend another day here. The wind has died down, the sun is shining , and it should be back into the 70's. The wind is a lot less but we would like the waves to die down out in the Sea of Abaco, plus we wanted to do the lighthouse. So after breakfast we take the dingy over and climb up the 101 steps to climb out onto the balcony. It is an amazing view from up here. You can look out over the harbor, across the houses and out over the Atlantic Ocean. The other side you look out over the Sea of Abaco. It is lit up by lugging kerosene up to the top and lighting it each evening. We have been keeping an eye on them each night as they lit it, and then started it up.
Later we walked around town, settled our bill with Captn Jack, walked the beach, watched a fuel ship come in the narrow entrance, hit the bakery and the grocery store.
