Day 3 : Sunday October 1, 2017

We eased off the dock around 7:00 am. Today's destination- Elizabeth City, NC.

This morning it's a little overcast; still cool. We motor for a few hours . We raise the jib as we enter the North Landing River. Initially, things were very calm. That didn't last long!!

Things became rather snarky as the river widens. The Albemarle Sound is no picnic today either. We've certainly seen it worse, but it handed us a couple of hours or so of discomfort.

Lunch today is sandwiches. Yep!! That's it! Even preparing that was interesting with all the rockin' going on. As I'm coming out from the galley to the cockpit to serve our pitiful lunch, Robert is holding a paper towel around his foot; and there's bloody footprints on the cockpit floor. It seems he caught his food on a snap as he stepped out to adjust a line. Damn!!

I go back down/grab the first aid kit, and clean and dress the wound. After this bit of excitement, lunch is served!

We're able to run a little closer to the shore heading to Elizabeth City, so things improve immensely. Well, at least from the wave aspect. Now, we're in a minefield of crab pots!! We both keep a very close watch, and thankfully, we make it to Elizabeth City without snagging one.

We tie up at Mariner's Wharf around 6:00 pm.

Dinner tonight is beef roast, potatoes, green beans. And several cocktails for each of us.
It's been a somewhat "exciting" day!

Maggie is thrilled to be on land again, and she sniffs every blade of grass on our evening walk.

We're gonna hang out here for a couple of days for Robert to work, and for me to explore!!
