Heading North

After a 6 week stay in Bath, NC , SeaQuell and crew are heading North.
We left the dock at 6:00 am.
There’s a nice SW wind about 8 knots.
We raise both the jib and the mainsail before we leave Bath Creek.
The Pamlico River is nice this morning.
We make good time, averaging 7 knots. There’s lots of boat traffic today, and most are playing nicely together.
We continue through the Alligator-Pungo Canal , entertaining ourselves by killing HUGE horseflies!!
Lunch is simple— turkey sandwiches and fruit. We meet a huge barge almost at the mouth of the Alligator River. As usual, I’m puckering and Robert is cool as a cucumber.
On the river, The wind is a steady 12-14, and SeaQuell is loving it. We ride on a downwind run , averaging 7.5 knots!
We clear the Alligator River Swing bridge, and head to the sound.
Initially, all is well, but soon the waves are on our beam. UGH!!
SeaQuell weathers thru like a champ, while Robert and I do the crab pot shuffle. It’s intense, but we fly across the sound in record time— just a little over an hour!!
In the Pasquotank River around 7:00 pm, heading For Elizabeth City. Thankful for calmer seas!! But now the flies invade!!! We just can’t catch a break!! Only the occasional fly is a biter, but I killed at least 3 dozen of those suckers!!
The Elizabeth City free dock ( on the wall) is not available due to a festival. We go ahead thru the drawbridge and tie up at another free dock at MidAtlantic Christian College. Dinner is leftovers ( thanks Connie and Rick for the care package), and a few rounds of cocktails.
In true Nordstrom fashion, we covered about 90 miles today. I see an early bedtime in our future. Night-Night!!😴😴
