Fitting the new generator
12 May 2010 | Ipswich
Well its the usual story...a reasonably quick job turns into two weeks of work ! The old generator needed its mounting bolts tightening but in doing so we discovered that it was only screwed into the concrete ballast in the bilge and they couldn't be tightened, so Adrian removes the old generator to make epoxy/glass some new blocks of wood into the bilge. On removal of the old generator we decide it really has seen better days (and it makes your teeth fall out when you start it), so the decision is made to put our new generator in.....It is brand new but it spent 2 years in the dining room when we lived in the house, then it was put into the old boat although never wired in....it has now finally (hopefully) been located for the last time !
Why does every job on a boat always become complicated ...?
