Bobbling Along

22 July 2010
Still lots of confused waves. A swell from just off the bow which slows us and drops us down and then lifts us up, and then a more active one from a little further aft. Between the two of them, we are traveling lots of extra miles.

Reduced sail for the night- mizzen, staysail and double reefed main. Commander Weather thought we might get some freshening winds tonight and we wanted to be ready. We have been getting around 18 - 20 kts, which we can easily handle with this sail area, so we are fine. A little slow, thanks to the bobbling.

Headwinds most of the way so far, when reports said it should be abeam to aft, makes for a less easy and slower passage than we had hoped. but nothing remotely overwhelming or scary so far. Just might take us a long time to get in.

It is 3 AM now, and Bob is asleep. The half/3 qtr moon has gone down, and all the stars are wheeling in the heavens. Still, i'd like to be asleep. so what is new - 3 AM and Jenny is up.
