Back in Business!

09 March 2014 | St. Helen's, Oregon
There was a time about two year's ago when I had written off the dream of Wilparina as a wasteful exercise in selfishness. We put Willie up for sale. After a year on the market, things changed and the dream has been resurrected. I've also reactivated our Blog.

We moved the boat to St. Helens, from Tomahawk Bay near the Portland Airport. This more than doubles the drive time back and forth from the marina, but it's certainly a more pleasant place to be. It's pretty out by this little town, and there are no ear-splitting jet aircraft constantly flying over and dropping soot and jet fuel! Plus, it's close by our crack-mechanic, Adam, who's a wealth of information, and a welcome supporter of this adventure.

We are on track for a late May departure for the San Juan Islands. The boat is nearly ready to go. More as it develops

Kathleen and Doug bought Wilparina in April of 2011 with a vision of accomplishing some long-distance cruising. It's taken over three years, and the project was almost abandoned, but at last, the boat is sailing again. Here's a journal of our adventures. [...]
