30 December 2019 | Safe Cove Boat Storage
Don Winchell | Hot no rain
we are still on the hard but living on the boat. our bottom paint arrived today and if we get good weather we will get it painted and have it in the water by next Monday, I guess that would be the 6th. So I guess then the "adventure" will officially begin, but it has been quite an adventure already!

Florida is an interesting place. We have dirt-poor folks, wild boar, alligators all living next to people with private jets who fly over us regularly to land at the small airport near by. But so far the bugs have not been a problem except for one early encounter with fire-ants. Really really nasty little buggers. The ship seems sound enough but still a whole list of "stuff" (technical boating term) that we want to do before hitting the high seas (or more accurately the gulf of Mexico).

we finally took the rental car back today, so even though we are not in the water, we are starting to feel a bit more isolated. again, praise the lord for Amazon.com. we will check out the wall-mart app, maybe tomorrow, as they say they will deliver groceries, and I suppose whatever else they sell.

I did finish getting the two electric circuit breaker panels fed separately and installed a new fuse box to further distribute the high amperage loads.

We are not at a marina, we are at a boat storage yard that can be reached by water. Many can only be reached by truck. We are at the little red arrow on the chart. It is 8 miles from any "real" water.

In our 60's, (now in our 70s) been married to each other since 1979, sailing boats since the late 1980s. Started on Lake Champlain with a MacGregor 22, and took it to Nova Scotia with us. The MacGregor was a little small for the Atlantic, so we got a "Snowbird", 30-foot steel hulled Junk rig. [...]
Extra:
This blog is mostly to help us record the kind of things about weather, distance, routes, anchorages fuel & water levels and the other things that have been recorded in ships logs for hundreds of years.
