12 January 2020 | Safe Cove Boat Storage --- IN THE WATER (where a boat belongs)
Don Winchell | Hot, light winds
Well we definitely saw some local wildlife. Not the one in the picture, but as we were having pizza on the boat nextdoor, this little guy was just hovering about 5 feet away, apparently hoping we would throw some food. He/she/it was only about four feet long. Seemingly very friendly, but i know that it is a reptile and would probably eat my hand or someone's little dog in an instant. As i understand it (and i could be wrong) reptiles have even less of an emotional range than i do.

Worked on installing windless and rewiring battery/12-volt system most of the day. Hope to get final parts tomorrow.

Sara ordered some new wood tiles for the cockpit. It may add twenty pounds to the boat, but the appearance enhancement is probably worth it.

Julie and Tony on Terrapin, a Westsail 32 (battleship) seem like they may be people we will run into on our travels. In fact we owe them a Pizza when we get to Marathon.

Cockpit and salon are about 80% clean and operational.

Sara plans to do bookkeeping work mornings this week.

Still need to dig into the engine, see if the dingy motor runs, start the gen-set, install the echo-charger, and connect the filtered water system. Oh, decide to buy new chain or not, the figure out how to get it if we do.

In our 60's, (now in our 70s) been married to each other since 1979, sailing boats since the late 1980s. Started on Lake Champlain with a MacGregor 22, and took it to Nova Scotia with us. The MacGregor was a little small for the Atlantic, so we got a "Snowbird", 30-foot steel hulled Junk rig. [...]
