Went to dairy queen today

16 May 2020 | Atlantic Yacht Basin - a stopping place since the 30s
Don Winchell | Sun, 30C, 12 to 15 from west through north east
31 miles today.
Nice trip across another shallow sound, averaging 6 plus knots with sail assist. 1/2 to a full knot with the sail up.

Got passed by two barges today and passed one that was being filled.

Our first "meal" out since the covid shutdown, Dairy Queen! They all had masks and gloves, counted/limited the people in the store, had spacing squares on the floor and were wiping things with disinfectant regularly. We got milk shakes. Straight from the sealed plastic mix into the cups using wrapped straws. We even checked with "Mister COVID" (Jamille) who thought it was probably OK. Well we will see. Many more people wearing masks in Great Bridge than we have seen anywhere else. Also saw some zippies today, but nothing crazy.

We walked over the great bridge that we will go under tomorrow.

Yes, "Virginia is for lovers" appears to be some official slogan, go figure.
3 days of HEAVY rain and strong winds starting Tuesday morning, sheesh, just when we were getting close.

We should go under the bridge and through the lock tomorrow. Then through the navel yard where one may see aircraft carriers, submarines or heavily armed RIBs. Maybe more barges and tugboats.
