Click click click,

This breaks me from my morning coffee..... A thought.......

Stationary v stationery

1727, from stationery wares (c.1680) "articlessold by a stationer," from stationer "seller ofbooks and paper" (q.v.). Roving peddlers weremore common in the Middle Ages; sellers with afixed location were often bookshops licensed byuniversities. The Company of Stationers, one ofthe Livery Companies of the City of London, wasfounded 1556.

I sit at anchor , 6:38 am, coffee made, light cloud on the eastern horizon, awaiting the sunrise. I hear the subtle click, click of an anchor chain being hauled in. An interesting sound as it brings to mind someone is on the move.

Where?............. I look about the anchorage here in Big Major Spot. I sip my coffee, listening so my ears can tell me more. To my right, or starboard as I should say, I see a CSY 44 moving gently towards its purpose. Click , click , click, click......... It's early and sun is just arriving. We are in mid tide, so the depths are good. All things a good sailor thinks of!

Back to my coffee, a thought strikes to mind, stationary, or have I become stationery? The luxury of a great anchorage, nice beaches and ample supply..... Have we become nothing more than office desk top supply?

Or are we stationary, staying still until such time as it is to move on?

Where is the click click click? The sailing vessel that was just abeam, clicking happily away, is not there..... As the sun rises over the eastern shore of Big Major, I see off in the west the lonely sailing vessel slipping west towards destinations unknown.

She in not stationary, nor stationery!

Maybe the yearn is to find the island we can become stationary, without becoming forgotten, stuck in a desk, stationery.

Soon! A time to move on.

Back to my coffee.......
