Ah! New Bottom Paint

We just repainted the bottom, finally switching from the dull-but-functional black to bright and flashy and hopefully also functional red.

A Walk on the Other Side

21 May 2011 | Ocean World Marina, DR
Thursday, May 19, 2011

The weather was not cooperating for a departure for Escondido, so we decided to stay another night at the marina. We took a walk to the Ocean World's Water World Amusement Park to have a look around. Unfortunately everything was very expensive - the park is $55 a day - so we just looked. We met a nice man who wanted to show us around in his golf cart - wanting to sell us on Lifesytle Holidays Villas. What a different side of town. He showed us the lovely gated community, sushi restaurant, and upscale development. Our tour was rather brief though - I don't think we looked like good prospects. We were greeted at the "office" by someone in a sort of over the top clown outfit (New York Central Park busker look), we were given very nice cold towels that smelled of flowers and free chocolates. They told us it would only take an hour and half to see their presentation. We told them we would be sailing off in about half an hour. We were promptly dismissed and sent back to the marina on an open air bus. So much for the limo that was parked outside. It was a great tour though. On the funny side, when we got back to the marina they were setting up the pool area for a private party with live band, fancy tables and amazing looking food. Yep it was those Lifestyle Holiday folks again (even the limo was there). We did not get our invitation though. However the catering staff did let us boaties sample some left over desserts after the party was over.
