PlanetSolar Visits Boston
Earlier this year we were fortunate to visit onboard the PlanetSolar boat when she called in Boston. She is the first boat to circumnavigate entirely solar powered with electric engines.

The Bibliotheque Schoelcher is a Romanesque public library named after Victor Schoelcher, who led the fight to free the slaves in the French West Indies in the 19th century. The building is an architect's dream. It was originally built for the 1889 Paris Exposition by a contemporary of Gustave Eiffel - who built the Eiffel Tower for the same event. After the fair it was dismantled and shipped to Martinque and reassembled piece by piece.
One librarian's note though - the circulating collection is really small - but they use Dewey so that's nice. Like Boston Public - somone tried to attach a 1970-esque modern wing on the back of the beautiful building - with about the same look as the BPL modern wing.
