PlanetSolar Visits Boston
Earlier this year we were fortunate to visit onboard the PlanetSolar boat when she called in Boston. She is the first boat to circumnavigate entirely solar powered with electric engines.

Diamond Rock

A big moon rock - no this is Diamond Rock - a landmark you can't miss on the way from St. Anne to Fort de France. Although it looks completely inhospitable, we were told in our guide books that the British stationed a garrison of soldiers on this rock to guard the area against the French. The story told is that it worked for awhile, but then the French floated barrels of rum out to the island and its thirsty inhabitants. The French were then able re-take the rock for the glory of France without any shots being fired. John and I couldn't actually find any flat surfaces along the bottom or sides on the rock so it must have been something hauling those barrels to the top for the party.
