PlanetSolar Visits Boston
Earlier this year we were fortunate to visit onboard the PlanetSolar boat when she called in Boston. She is the first boat to circumnavigate entirely solar powered with electric engines.

Antigua certainly has its share of mega yachts (also known as “boat porn” by cruisers), but you don’t have to have a shiny 112 foot boat to enjoy the place. We were pleasantly surprised that we could do Antigua on the cheap (well cheap-ish). There are check in fees and a hefty departure fee ($75 for Windrifter), but there is a lovely free anchorage off the beach in Falmouth Harbour – just a quick dinghy ride and short walk to all the history and glamour that is English Harbour. The water is so clean we swam off the boat in the evenings. One evening a mermaid swam over to our boat from the beach – well okay her name was Ellie and she was from Maine and I expect a bit homesick - so she swam by for a quick chat. She is working on a 60-foot crewed yacht that was preparing for the Caribbean 600 race.
