Ah! New Bottom Paint

We just repainted the bottom, finally switching from the dull-but-functional black to bright and flashy and hopefully also functional red.

14 June 2012 | South Edisto River, South Carolina
Last night we anchored off the ICW on the South Edisto River since the weather has continued to be plagued with strong winds, heavy rain and a good bit of lightning thrown in. The spot was quiet and we even had a visit from a dolphin or two - you wonder how they got this far up river - did they come in through the St. Helens Sound in the south or thru the Charleston Inlet to the north - and don't they mind when the water is only 10 feet deep.

We had the anchorage to ourselves - a good note since the current was very strong and we had all the swiing room we could want. Our only company was a few lights from a nearby house. It ends up the house has quite a history. It was the Prospect Hill Plantation House built around 1790. It is a white house designed James Hoban, the architect of the other White House on Pennyslvania Avenue in Washington, DC. It wasn't so grand as to make you think of Gone with the Wind - but it was probably quite the house for its day. The house faces the river - as all commerce and supplies (including probably a good number of slaves) were delivered along the waterway.
