PlanetSolar Visits Boston
Earlier this year we were fortunate to visit onboard the PlanetSolar boat when she called in Boston. She is the first boat to circumnavigate entirely solar powered with electric engines.

Kayaking the Sheepscot

My brother and mom came up to Southport for a short visit. We toured the island by car and stopped for a lovely picnic lunch at Knickercane Island Park off of Barters Island Road in Boothbay. Knickercane Park has a good boat ramp for putting in kayaks, a swimming float, a small beach (at high tide), an outhouse, picnic tables – and a large paved parking area for inflating the kayaks and getting gear organized. While mom read at a picnic table, my brother and I kayaked along the shore of the Coastal Maine Botanical Garden and out to the Sheepscot River. We had the water to ourselves and felt a bit like Lewis and Clark – well except for people on shore waving from the paths of the Botanical Garden.
