Heading East...East?
03 October 2011 | Marina Del Rey

We had tons of wind leaving Channel Islands harbor, so we reefed the main and prepared to head to Marina Del Rey. Much to our chagrin, the waves were small (5 ft) , but choppy (5 sec) and from more than one direction with an occasional organized set trying to put us on our ear..... So, we headed further out to get a better take on them and it was better, but mostly just wallowed all the way to Marina Del Rey so we could arrive before the office closed at 5 pm. Hard to believe it's actually East.... We plan to stay in Marina Del Rey for the week getting some visitation time with Sal and Gloria from our Ensenada days, and nephew Matt who is out here from Minnesota for his Doctorate at Claremont College. The remnants of Hurricane Hilda are blowing through and we're supposed to get some weather Wednesday and Thursday, so that's the perfect time to catch up on some work, repair the electric winch and pick up a few more spares.
But, for Friday and Saturday, I hear there's a place out here where the whales are hanging out, so we'll be sure to hang out there for a bit, too!
