First Season

Our first full season on the lake, Ck had a lower back surgery (her second) and was barred from sailing and also from even being on the boat, after an afternoon of just motoring we found out that just the motion rocking back and forth hurt her back a lot so we did not sail after that.

We were invited to go sailing a few times with friends who owned a sailboat on Lake Cd'A and on July 4 weekend 2010, i had quit selling fireworks and we were on our first July4 outing on the lake.

Diamond Cup Weekend

Big weekend for the hydroplane races, they were pretty awesome. We had to move stuff from grandmas house on Saturday, we spent Sunday and Sunday nite on the Passing Wind. The weather is awesome and we are enjoying ourselves a lot. No sailing today as the lake was pretty crazy!

My friend and I worked at rebedding the outboard and adding a swim ladder for safety as the one that had to be folded out and attached was almost impossible for me and impossible for Ck. Being that I would probably be the one in the water we made the decision to modify the back to add the ladder.
As I mentioned earlier (maybe) we removed all of the previous owners stuff including the curtains, cushions and carpets. We had the cushions re-apholstered and new curtains, added some stylish pillows and pretty much have made the boat 'our' boat.
We also made the decision not to do a lot of cooking (aka) clean-up and that has made boat life way more relaxing and we were able to remove the microwave and cooking utensils include a hotplate. We survive with toaster and coffee pot and mainly have cold cereal mornings, snax or cold cuts for lunch and are able to barbeque on the stern pulpit barbie for dinner.
We love our boat and are enjoying it immensely.

Our friends told us about a 27' sloop that was for sail at their yacht club and so we decided to take a look. The boat named 'Passing Wind' was in very good condition and along with the slip was very affordable. My wife decided that we could not pass up the deal and on Sept 1st we owned the Passing Wind and the slip at the Panhandle Yacht Club.
We were pretty excited and my wife got busy right away cleaning out everything from the previous owners and we began our journey into the world of sailboats, yacht clubs and also fear and loathing. Our first couple of months on the boat did involve a couple of attempts at sailing and in Oct of that year I took a lesson at North Idaho College that helped me a lot.
Also the several times we were out with friends helped me also to understand taking, jibes, sheets, mains and other misc info.
More on all this later
