Everyone is well. We're about 150 miles from the Tuamotus, motoring again. No wind. Our latest equipment failure could have been very bad: the regulator for the engine-driven alternator. Damn! We can't make electrical power when we're running the engine. Luckily, our trusty Honda is doing the work of making water and electricity. With little wind for sailing speed, the towed water generator does spin fast enough and it's been cloudy, so the solar panels have not produced as they can. Still hot and humid and we wish we had wind for sailing and cooling.
This is the second day of no wind and what wind there is hails from a direction not even mentioned in the weather charts: West and Southwest. We need to go SW, so it's been difficult. However, we're becalmed in the South Pacific, so how bad can it be?
No wind does mean no seas, so it's been a calm but engine-noisy ride.
We made water today, and we're making electricity with the Honda, so we're taking the chance to update the blog. We'll be in Rangiroa in a bit over a day.
