We arrived in San Carlos on New Year's Day.... great day for crossing the border! It was great to see that Wiz was in good shape with no nasty surprises for us. Everything looked good and worked well. Now we are off to Jay Jay's for our long awaited shrimp tacos!

This is our 4th trip down here and this year we found a new hotel. WOW, what an improvement! Coop has a shortie wetsuit so he got to swim in the 60 degree pool each day after working each day.

We worked on Wiz for 4 days in the yard. On January 6th at 6am, we got to launch her! It was still dark and a bit scary watching as the tractor pushed her down the bumpy road to the marina. By 7:00 she was in without a hitch. Of course Darrell was relieved to see her floating again :-). And after 2 years on the hard, she fired right up on the second try! Gotta love this ol' Yanmar! The generator also started right away.

It felt good to be home. The smells, the sounds, and the motion of boat- it was wonderful. Coop moved right into his bunk and was happy as a clam with all of his toys close at hand. The Lego creations stated immediately and in abundance. But all of us were pretty anxious to get out of the marina; to set sail for warmer weather. As soon as we got all the rigging up, systems checked and some provisioning done, we were off to the bay around the corner. Finally on the hook, we felt like we were cruising again!

After just 2 nights anchored just off San Carlos, and many (maybe too many) Jay Jay's tacos later- we found a weather window and TOOK IT! I finished up my hour and a half MDC call for work and we were off! It was about 2:00 when we pulled up anchor and the wind was perfect for sailing. We were able to sail right out of the bay and we never once had to start the motor all the way across the Sea of Cortez! It was a perfect crossing, averaging about 7 knots for the entire 10 hours!

Now we are happily anchored off of Marina de La Paz! We have hooked up with some old friends and many new ones too. Coop has even met several kids to play with along with his good friend, Zada from Eyoni. They picked up right where they left off 2 seasons ago. It was been great.

Thanks to Coop's teacher, Mrs. Lapka , school is going well. She really hooked us up with all that we need to make my job easier! Coop and I are finally getting into a routine that works for us and we are enjoying most of it.

Now, where are we off to next? We will let you know as soon as we know 
