Adonai Sailing with Troop 502/170 Ohio
09 August 2014 | Sea Of Abaco Bahamas
sunny gg
Cincinnati Ohio on the water aboard Adonai. The week starts out blowing a gale as hurricane Bertha travels north west. Rain follows but does not slow the scouts down as they climb Hope Town light house and visit town. On return to Adonai the rain begins again with a lightening strike 30 feet off starboard stern, lighting up our eyes in wonder ,and physically causing a fan to be smoked. Its a fiery week, before the scouts arrived Adonai, the service pedestal on the dock went up into flames smoking our power cord , Adonai was unharmed but in need of a new power cord, charred to a crisp and the dock box in need of much repair..
The wind eventual subsided and the sun blazes her August heat in the Bahamas. Refreshing from the sweltering heat we stop at Don't Rock, off of Treasure Cay a popular stop for the scouts as they climb up the jagged rock to jump in the sea below.
The weather is beautiful with sun shining on now calm seas bringing the brilliant blue water to life making for super reef and wreck exploration. The reef is full of activity with colorful fish showing their vividness of color as they swim in and out of fan beds and coral formations.
Great food on the grill ends the week on the Sea of Abaco. The scouts hike across Man O War with her beautiful beaches and quaint village taking in the beauty of the Bahamas and her wonderful people. They will return to the U.S. with an adventure under their belt, stories to tell and a great time to be remember.
