The town is bustling from 7 years ago. It is fun to go back and see the places you love . The shore line has been built up with private homes , condos and hotels. Belize is a in leader in tourism with the attraction of diving with her pristine reefs and off shore atolls filled with crystal clear waters. Inland the mountains, jungle and Maya ruins are great for hiking with adventure best of all is cave tubing in the rivers. An all time favorite is the Belize zoo and an unusual stop is "The Museum of Belize " a prison until 2002 dating back to 1857, so here we are back to San Pedro walking the city square at night with golf carts whizzing by carrying about the many visitors making commerce grow for blocks with bars, restaurants shops and street vendors selling cuban cigars." Saying no to the vendor I quit ! " The vendor hence offers me viagra. Once again " no thank you" On the waterfront the artist square is filled with wares from the mountains and local artists, specializing in conch shell creations very beautiful along with various handmade jewelry and baskets weaved from local grasses. Wood cravings are densely seen as we stroll the streets a very popular form of art in Belize featuring turned bowls , sculptures and furniture beautifully hand crafted fully alive as you can smell the richness of the indigenous woods. San Pedro Catholic Church on the water front echoes out into the street attracting passer byes as the story of Jesus is being told by the stations of the cross beautifully depicted as it is carved into the church walls . God is alive in Belize.
Th sun is bright this morning inviting our guest family to explore the coast line by dingy enjoying time off from work in America. Family time and friends is so important in our busy culture to nurture precious relationships is our very essence the seat of our heart. Love for our family is unconditional growing with the passing of time. Just as Christ loves the Church we are to love. The human race is one family one that Christ gave his life for and he desires that we move according to His word experiencing faith.
Today is a new creation giving new choice for all. The sun is bright and the seas have calmed the front has past and the air is warm. This is our day to dive below the sea pondering the never ending mystery of color and form. Filling for the eyes to see life in all shapes, sizes and design. The splashes of color on color, dashed with spots to strips and tiny dots intermixed with solids is a never ceasing amazement.
Feb 2, What a time warp as the Dewind family and friends just headed to the airport. Yesterday was a perfect closing for the family retreat. The reef was astounding with spectacular coral formations. A nurse shark cruising by Prudence was a favorite and when the graceful enormous spotted eagle ray appeared in such quiet grace gliding on the sea below I knew I was most certainly blessed. Karen received a turtle dance when the sea turtle came circling and playing making the last swim a lasting memory to share for days to come.
I am grateful for this time spent with Beckie, Greg and Raymond, with Karen and Tim and Prudence and Mark a time well lived enjoying life just as it is in the very moments that are present for a breath. Accompanying the departure of our guest family comes an emptiness as when traveling on the sea together and witnessing the great beauties of God it is part of the freedom of love. Love to be given freely and to be released as soon as received the ebb and flow of life.
Soon the Dupree's and more friends will board to sail Adonai home bringing fullness of life once again as God continues to give his never ending life. The giver of life who is the giver of good gifts with the greatest of all being grace His unmerited grace.
