Adonai loves Mermaid Reef with Troop554 Whitefeild Ga.
03 July 2015
Adonai welcomes Whitefeild Ga. Troop 554 to the sail and explore the Sea of Abaco. Arriving late with a super attitude and smiling faces despite lost luggage, delayed flights, and dinner at 9:30 p.m. I believe the the adventure has begone! Sunday morning heading out to Mermaid Reef which a great introductory snorkel for the any first time snorkelers. Coming from the Fl Keys where are kids are born with a snorkel in their mouths, I can forget that this is a first time experience for many. The colorful fish below and rich coral filled with life is an eye opener to the sea screaming out Gods beautiful creations yet to be discovered.
The group gathered on the front trampolines and the Lord was honored by the reading of the word with an insightful interpretation by the scouts. This is a great way to start and finish a week. Those who honor the Lord, the Lord will honor. Our week was certainly blessed.
The heat becomes a challenge along with no showers. The scouts are in an unfamiliar environment which in turns promotes maturity. Working as a team they bond with each other in a deeper way and find the greater value of being a team rooted in friendship.
The beach and the reef was top on the list for enjoyment. The clear colorful waters of the Sea of Abaco is hard to resist and no matter where you drop the anchor you find another beautiful view. On the back deck you will find the dedicated fishermen patiently baiting and waiting to reel in the catch.
Our week ended on the beach of Water Cay roasting hotdogs and marshmallows. After dinner competition is always steep which closes out are week. The scouts reveal their team names , calls and skits pertaining to this weeks events! It is really a fun time the scouts and leaders are very creative leaving all with a big smiles. It is our last night out at sea to take in the stars above and feel the salt air. This week the moon was blazing full lighting up the water glistening across the crest of the waves.
Ted and I pray for safe travel home for our scouts and super leaders and may your memories be a blessing for a life time.
