Triple Troops! New Jersey and Texas aboard Adonai.
12 August 2016 | Cistern Cay Abaco Bahamas
This week has been interesting with 3 Troops meeting for the first time aboard Adonai. Troop 856 from North Caldwell New Jersey, Troop 122 from Belton Texas, and Troop 181 Plano Texas! The week starts with rain cooling the afternoon down only for the wind to pick up the next day. With a 30 knot wind a band of rain was washing the decks clean as we head south after pulling our first lobster out of the ocean at Matt Lowe Cay. The treasure of spiny lobster and fresh conch is often a first time experience for the scouts especially when they are from different parts of the country.
Sailing has been great the first part of this week as the wind filled in nicely unusual for August in the Bahamas, that is unless a hurricane is a coming! Rain will keep you up at night so last night with the uninterrupted star filled sky it was fantastic with many shooting stars. Looking across the water the channel markers are dancing a light show of green and red reflecting on the glass calm water.
The wind has let up mid week to just about zero. We are experiencing the full summer heat which is blazing down and sweltering us onboard to melting. The reef is going to be refreshing to take a chill and it is! Ah relief!
It has been a super week on board. We close this week with some really funny skits out on Cistern Cay, two Canadian Cruisers join us for the most beautiful, and only sunset of the week. Every night clouds have the filled sky but not tonight! Wow! Time flies when you are having fun. We have one more reef stop at Mermaid reef and Wan O War Cay then its back in to Marsh Harbor.
Thank you scouts and leaders for such a great week, you showed good team work with cheer and enthusiasm onboard even to the end as we sweat it out inside doing final clean up for next weeks troop. Captain and I pray for your safe travels home to your loved ones and have hopes of your fellow scouts to come and join us for another adventure filled week aboard Adonai on the Sea of Abaco!
