Windy
Ships log: A great week on the windy Sea of Abaco with Troop 55 from Lawerence Kansas. The first day started out windy and so was the last hitting a high of 30. Our first night out we were able to watch the launch from Cape Canaveral across the night sky glowing red with the Delta 4 rocket.
Sailing south stopping in the channel I was very impressed. The water so cold and the wind blowing so hard the scouts jumped right in an pulled up a conch in less than 5 minutes! Out of one conch brought up an eel slithered out on the deck catching us by surprise! We had fresh snapper in the evening with the fresh conch a very delicious blessing from the sea.
Next stop Hopetown after the light house. The scouts hit the grocery store to stock up on their sugar snacks ! I just read this in the log book. So much for a peaceful ship but they are having a great time. The scouts are pretty good cooks grilling steaks and the best potatoes ever off the stern of Adonai. The night sky is filled with beautiful stars ending another successful day on the sea.
Sharks out on the reef off of Guana and a bouncing fun entrance through the cut the waves were high a surfers delight. The current was strong but he snorkelers were up for it. After the reef they enjoyed the waves breaking on the beach.
Its always great to head into Treasure Cay for our weekly shower and cinnamon buns at Cafe Florence. You really have to take the trip and visit. It is most delightful and the sand at Treasure is like sugar, soft , white and beautiful stretched out for miles with the most beautiful colors staring you down from the water.
Our deserted beach has been washed clean no signs of last year remain. The wind and waves must have been high this winter. We had fun making furniture from what we could find on the island ending up with a fire and hotdogs roasting plus a marshmallow or two. Let me tell you this ,these scouts are very creative. Our closing skits were great, clever, funny, new and original . Its a great way to close the week for tomorrow we will have to head into Marsh Harbor and the wind is going to come back in strong.
Its been another great week aboard Adonai meeting new people making friends and watching the sea go by. I pray our troop returns home safely and remembers these good times for years to come.
