Adonai High Winds and High Seas a High time with Troop 361 Columbia Md.
14 April 2017 | Marsh Harbor Bahamas
High winds and high seas for those with the sprit of adventure was at its best this week!
Much to our surprise aboard Adonai this week and our certain good luck was a “True Professional Angler”. With rations getting low our Hawk Eye angler lured an unsuspecting large fish to take the bait. Partnering up with his superior son to set the hook it was the fight of the century to land this monstrous fish from the sea. It took accuracy, finesse and time to determine the proper strategies plus the ok from his long term traveling adventure buddies and the help of his able bodied scout crew. There were some moments of the fish diving out of sight making the reel spin disappearing into the deep raging sea. Confidence will win every time at least this time. The fish fought for its life unfortunate for him he lost the battle. Secretly I was praying for his freedom. He was gutted grilled and devoured with delight now the hungry crew was well fed thanks to our hero!
A rumor has been heard of a basketball battle, locals against scouts in Hope Town. News travels fast in these islands. A super star scout feeling the pressure of 6 foot 5 Bahamians on the court was not going to stop him or let his team down. Fighting tooth and nail clutching the ball he spun fast past the first defender with another in his face, the pressure was fierce especially with our last hero watching with coconut cream in hand. Low and behold basket it is! The crowd goes wild not sure if it was instigating a riot or not but the faithful scout did it for the team. Names are with held to protect all the heroes from fame and inflated egos. A hero is a hero!
Tension aboard was peeking with egos and ice-cream out of control. Captain Ted and Admiral Gail quickly pulled anchor with all aboard exiting Hope Town to move on to high seas to settle this crowd down.
Multiple perspectives of the fish and basketball battle has been recorded in Adonai’s log book. An investigation is being started by Captain Steve on shore to find the truth. This mystery is becoming bigger than the sea itself! Some say this story is of 3 boys, some extremely talented Bahamian basketball players, one lucky fisherman, and a fairly small trigger fish. They are sure that it will go down in history to be remembered for decades to come.
This week is more exciting than I suspected The Beasty has now come to light making the True Professional Angler and his pumped up biceps look like and ant hill compared to this mountain. Long nights spent fishing off the back deck the unnamed fisherman known as Neptune or the son of Poseidon, who states that he merely is a lover of the sea receives a midday blessing . Beasty hit the line! Barreling past Mr. Professional Angler, Neptune takes the rod feeling the presence of his mentor, his still living grandfather bing proud of him. Relaxed and skillfully reeling suddenly the gnashing of razor sharp teeth appear its a two foot barracuda gaffed on the back deck for mid day portraits. Another heroic moment aboard Adonai.
Our log book has recorded some very exciting moments this week with many more to be revealed. While traveling off the beaten path to deserted islands and sunken wrecks lurking with lion fish fan outed showing off their beauty accompanied by a turtle with two ramora fish attached. Unfortunate events happen also like one inflatable pillow floating off to Cuba. The quickest coconut opened on Tahiti Beach was in a split second slam which is part of our Swim Run Crawl Coconut opening contest. This event takes place ever week through the summer no reservations are necessary just show up for the fun. Troop 361you have been the most enthusiastic swim racers and swimmers while exploring the reefs in winds blasting up to 25 making for more than a chop.
Adonai peeked at 9.2 with a 16 knot wind. She was just prancing through the water doing what she was created to do . This week was full of new good memories, gained knowledge, and a few stories ending our Bahamas Sea Base on a high note of high adventure. Thank you troop 361 for joining us on the Sea of Abaco and making this week so great!
