Adonai with Scouts on the Sea " Troop 455 Lakeland Tennessee
02 June 2017 | Marsh Harbor Abaco
overcast and humid /gg
Thorn free living is the only way to go aboard Adonai. Troop 455 from Lakeland Tennessee were raising sails and knocking down coconuts like pros as they found a home on Adonai.
This week was filled with fun and adventure. Late night story telling of the days events brought on laughter and fun. Tips on how to avoid damaging the reef and wood polishing were competing with friends pointing out barracudas and killer sharks stories. Possibly a repair in the head or the fish that got away with the silverware would find its way into the conversation. What ever the story was our laughter could be heard for miles aways.
Adonai sails the sea carrying the scouts to bountiful colorful reefs and remote tucked away islands. With the wind blowing and the sails filled the clear turquoise sea showed her beauty. Serious card playing was taking place in the main salon between islands and swims making the sunny hot days blend from one to the next forgetting about time for a time.
Mutton snapper was reeled in , conch was caught while turtles were spotted. Squid would appear and the surprise of 7 large tarpon was a thrill. The under water world at Mermaid Reef was a favorite with friendly fish swimming about and the mystery of the sunken barge still lays beneath with all her treasures scattered about.
I would also like to compliment the culinary arts this week with a new flaming potato dish . I think its a Memphis specialty with a Kentucky twist. I believe it will be hard to recreate but if you dare we can try.
One of the great scout dads who was not able to join us on the boat took a ferry, then rented a bike to cross the island to meet his son and the scouts at Tahiti Beach. Later in the week he kayaked out to Mermaid Reef to see the scouts snorkeling. I love this dad who is going to great lengths to support his son and troop!
We bid safe travels to our once known Troop 455 who are departing as the Vulture Crew: Man Bun, Weezly, Flounder, Twinkle Toes, Neck Light, Rodeo Clown, Scuba Steve, Sunshine, The Other Guy, Grasshopper, Squid-ward, Sargent Signals, Meat Shield, Brick Layer, Butterball and their faithful leaders Hot Potato, Rust Bucket, Chuckles, Missing Link and Talladega. You will never be the same after a week aboard Adonai sailing the Sea of Abaco with Captain Ted and Admiral Gail.
