Adonai and Irma's remains

29 September 2017 | Tavernier Fl
Islands of sea weed remain on the ocean side. Adonai with her sails restored to her mast was knee deep so to speak in muck. We cut through a sea trail of debris on the way out of the slip. We removed a hot tub blocking us and and a dock traveling through the still stirred up mucky waters out side of the harbor. The remains of hurricane Irma keep appearing. Eventually the water starts to clear up about a mile off shore, its not great but it is better. The debris is in abundance. Yet the sun is still shining!
US 1 has an unusual landscape of appliances lining the old road in the Upper Keys. It is funny looking and out of place. One might say a yard sale gone big and bad, shoppers wanted! Yet the sun is still shining!
Mountains of trash is being stacked high, it is the remains of homes and business the very lives of people piled up on the road side as debris. The clam truck is in action removing Irma's wreckage. There has been progress but it is still confusing to see our world upside down and mixed up. Traveling over the bridges the water is still and glossy reflecting beauty in a deep blue shining like a pearl. It is refreshing to the eyes. A light ripple forms patterns on the bay while scattered lobster balls are marking a way. Hurricane brown contracts the remains of vibrant green . The sky is decorated in white and grey with clouds stretching out in lines while others form up into soft cotton figures the ones you dreamed on as a child.
Driving the other day I felt something beyond the despair of many people. I felt a deep sense of the earth crying out in pain of a deep hurt, an expression of the heart of the Florida Keys. The God given beauty of these islands is hurt. I think of the birth pains and the groaning expressed in Romans 8 :19 the awaiting of God's sons to be revealed.Crashing rain has been arriving in the morning to wash the earth and bring new life to the plants and trees. My heart thinks of the homes with roof damage and how this same rain will turn into a deeper stench with in the walls where mold is building up from moisture and heat. It is a duality that is creating a cycle of life in different directions, similar to the wheat and the tares growing together in the same field.
It is interesting to observe people. There is vast difference of reactions. The human soul is being effected . Some people have support with many resources they are able to get into action and move forwards confident to find the light in the tunnel. Others are wandering looking for the light feeling alone with out directions, while some others are packing up and leaving. Most people are kind and doing their best, unfortunately a few are threatening the very hand of help extended. The duality of the seeds we sow is evident. For myself, I was fortunate in a situation which had the possibility of going bad.I backed my truck into a woman's 2017 car at the church in Big Pine who is giving aid to storm refugees. Expecting to be met with extreme anger, I stepped out and said" I am so sorry may I give you a hug." Praise God for his presence of an accepted hug. Support of our fellow man is important . We are all in this crazy upside down world together. When alone and facing such a large mountain of decisions it is an overwhelming task. Insurance companies are over loaded anyone involved in clean up is over loaded. This is just here in the Florida Keys. We still have Houston, the Islands plus earthquakes and fires. The beautiful gift we are experiencing here in the Florida Keys is there are so many volunteers on every level to aid and assist our communities.

The news of so many more homes which have been flooded and destroyed is effecting friends and their families. Housing is a challenge for many to be able to continue here. The hotels are rebuilding but it is a long process. Many jobs are on holdbut new jobs of contruction is in abundance.
Has your life been shaken? The choice of where you go for relief and where you are looking for the light has a way of dictating your future. A compassionate heart, a word of kindness, and an extended hand will bless many. It just may be the light of someones day. I pray you have a super great day and see the new life coming forth.
