Day 2 Rio Dulce to the Keys, post covid
22 February 2021 | Belize CIty
Gail Gordon | grey and calm
The big event today is filling our water jugs and fuel. Motoring inside the reef of Belize has been super quiet and somewhat eerie with the emptiness and lack of life around us. The water is flat and grey and the coolness of the air reminds me of Maine on a summer day.
Captain remarks he feels like he is going into a rabbit hole of which he wishes not, as it is becoming a time warp of rules. The good thing in our exploration is the peace that surrounds us in the unknown of silence. We have been connected to a great customs agent in Belize City who is instructing us along the way. We have been given permission to anchor at 17 27N:88 13W which is off the shore line about a mile. Permission to go ashore has not been granted as of yet. Belize is just coming off a shut down and,the procedure to enter is still being established.
The reason we have come inside the reef is because off shore weather and winds are against us. Pounding seas on your nose is no fun. We are slowly working our way inside waiting for a weather window to open which looks like Wednesday.
I am hoping we are welcomed to go ashore eventually to re-provision our food stores as our trip is longer than envisioned. God has a plan and that is the one we desire to be in, which means flexibility, especially when sailing.
Time on the water has given us time to reflect on the truth of God's word to enter into deep rich conversations and to shed a tear or two as the spirit touches our hearts for many reasons. All of which we can trust and give to God, for He is a great Father, who loves His children well. Dreams and visions are growing, and the reality of the Kingdom of God is coming into view. Our unity of purpose is being solidified as more join in. When you least expect it, your phone will ring with wonderful surprises of life. Thank you God for internet signal!
I urge you dear friends to dream and to dream big for the time is now. Covid is trying to stop the world but it cannot stop the Kingdom of God.
