Enthusiastic scouts coming across Viento Azul decks remind me of pogo sticks . They are so excited to explore the Sea of Abaco and learn to sail while discovering the mysteries of the coral reef. In one day three pods of dolphin came to show their magnificence. A grand old turtle blessed us with his presence while entering Treasure Cay which is still in disrepair from the storm but home to the best cinnamon buns
Elbow Reef Light House holds a certain fascination to climb the one hundred sixty year old kerosene -fueled beacon of light ! The candy strip land mark can be seen for many miles away. This by far was one of the favorite stops.
Having a group of excited youth aboard can be rough on your decks. To channel their energy a stop off of Guana where an old ship wreck lays on the bottom is a sure thrill for young men. The abundant sea life keeps the boys occupied for quite some time.
Troop 134 from Decatur Georgia suprises us when they went ashore and found their way back in a Donzi powered by 3 oversized engines! This group has certainly found their way in the Bahamas!
Our week came to a close and they were capable of raising the sails and tacking on course. The Bahama Sea Base High Adventure program’s goal is to empower young men and build leadership while experiencing the wonders of nature. A good call for any young man. Nature has a way of talking to the heart and putting life in perspective. For many it is a trip of a life time something they will remember and bring into adulthood .
Written in our blog book by James : “ On this trip , I went to a place I’d never been before, saw beautiful things that I though I would never see in person and I had an experince I will never forget. I truely have had a time I will never forget.”
