We arrived after a 29 hour sail into the Tahiti Sailing Club. With the wind blowing at 28 we were greeted first by a family of porpoise and then windsurfers. Picking up the buoy to tie off took a few trys eventually we were secure with the reef on one side and the mountains on the other. The marina was friendly and we did a couple loads of laundry. Looking at the Chinese restaurant menu with dinner at 40$ a plate we decided to cook our own meal. Later walking while waiting on the laundry we found the to go Chinese food down a back alley through a door the cook had a fire pit blazing under his wok it was fun to watch and the burner made such a loud noise like a dragon! Today Sunday we motored around to the lee side of the island seeing flying fish I thought of how I had missed them.We have not seen many since we left Hiva Oa. Continuing to the channel entrance we pasted surfers paddling out to the break. Inside the reef we looked for a good place to drop anchor. It is peaceful over here and more scenic. After a few anchor drops we found our place looking across the water you can see the island of Moorea a spectacular sight. On shore I see the golden arches and thus we went to lunch. Trevor went back out to Gabriella while Ted and I walked to the airport to try to purchase a ticket ,having a two hour wait we walked on passing a watermelon stand the price 27$ for a medium melon! Ted and I ended up at a tennis club looking for coffee and were invited to the luncheon we met some very nice local people and learned much.. God is so great the people also offered us some watermelon and it was delicious! Time to head back to the airport with no luck. It is not easy to buy an airline ticket in French Polynesia. Shane left us from Hiva Oa two weeks ago and ran into the same difficulty. Some how he made it home so I am sure Ted will eventually make it too. Another day is ending watching the sunset over the mountains of Moorea Trevor has arrived with the dingy and back to Gabriella we go.
