08/4//11 Le Truck, The Bus , and Cars
Public transportation in Tahiti is le truck and the bus! Le truck is my favorite. It looks like a trolley with a truck cab. Some have two benches inside the back while others have a middle bench for the crowd. Two things can happen when le truck is full one is he will drive right past you and not stop! I have experience both. The best is this: a woman saw there was no room for me so she patted her leg as a gesture for me to sit on her lap! Now that is love to a perfect stranger and one of a different race and then the driver had me come sit up front with him and I felt like a special dog on a Sunday drive with my nose out the window feeling the breeze rip by.The price for le truck is 130 franc equaling $1.80 US a reasonable way to get around town from 5 a.m. to 5:30 pm. The bus is for longer trips such as getting around the island . There are many sites to see the trouble with the bus is not knowing the schedule and having to spend too much time on a bench possible in the middle of no where. The bus also stops running in the later afternoon so if you miss it you may be in for a very expensive cab ride. I am looking into renting a car with Joe from Crisis mode to help differ the high cost so we can all go see more of the island at our own leisure for there is much to see such as waterfalls fresh cold springs caves and ferns that are so big you think you are hallucinating. The Lord says to be anxious for nothing. I must admit I am, to go and see this new world around me. I have chosen patience today for being anxious usual turns out not to be fun. Ted is still in the Keys and I am also patiently awaiting his return.
