08/4/22 Tahaa to Bora Bora
With no wind comes no sail the purring of engines push Gabriella over the water of the South Pacific arriving in the late afternoon to Bora Bora .The Yacht Club looked closed so we continued motoring to the south following the masts on the horizon. The moorings were full and the water being 80 feet in depth added line was necessary to anchor. Seeing sailing vessel Three Dolphins on a mooring we have a reunion with a familiar face from Panama, Bernie, unfortunately his wife had to go back to work in Australia leaving Bernie a solo sailor. We decided to all have dinner together at "Bloody Marys". The restaurant onshore who marvels about famous people they have served. The entrance has photos of many celebrities displayed very artistically and names posted on a large wood sign. The finish on the wood work is spotless and glistens. As you enter the open air building you are walking on a white sand floor it has a romantic island ambiance. The fresh catch of the day is displayed on ice before the chef and his grill and I was really excited to have dinner here as it looked so inviting. Our reservation was at 8:15 and our host said come at 8 so we did with a great appetite! At 9 p.m. my excitement turned to depression as we were still waiting, standing and sweating near the bar our host seemed to have forgotten about us. I went to check to see if this was true, to be told I was next and they will call us. The wait staff was hustling but appeared to be in the weeds meaning busy and behind totally swamped. I can only guess that the surf was up today leaving them short staffed. So it is at Bloody Marys tonight time keeps ticking and I keep waiting. The night sky decides to rain and I am feeling so ignored and depressed my desire for dinner has vanished just like me out the door. With dinner averaging 50$ a plate a little courtesy like acknowledging your presence would go along way especially when the welcome poster on entry speaks of a reputation built on customer care and relationship. If you sail all the way to Bora Bora from Florida I hope your special night out goes well, for mine, well, the anticipation was better than the actual experience. I went home hungry and feeling strange but I was able to wear my new pink skirt I bought in Tahiti for a special occasion and I have heard there is a good restaurant 2 km down the road!
Welcome to Bora Bora the dinghy ride home to Gabriella was filled with the glowing of ships in the harbor looking like Christmas with white lights shining bright and stars in the sky. I was with my father-in-law, my husband my son and God. It is a special night and tomorrow will be another special day. When I trust God how can it not for He has our best in mind. Will you trust Him today no matter what it looks like to the human eye and mind? He brings life and to the full. Have a great day today!
