Church on the Island
05 May 2008 | Rarotonga
Lime-stone carved from the shore of Rarotonga forms this beautiful church built in 1835 . Stain glass windows adored the tall white structure surrounded by by children climbing on the graves of loved ones making the church yard a playground of those present and those passed. Observing the happy play an acceptance enters my heart a comfort thinking of loved who still by spirit sing praise with us to our almighty Lord .The music bringing the presence of God to your soul as it echo's out the building into the street. Inside with high ceilings three sections surrounded the many platforms of alters. Six beams two with forks are carved from tall trees and painted blue representing the 8 local tribal chiefs of years ago. The honor and reverence for God was present in the house of worship this Sunday morning and very alive with love. The women wearing hats dressed in white and men in suits singing with no instruments to back them up were sounding like angels straight from heaven.
