The days flew by on Niue with our new friends. It all started with a bag of fish and the fish multiplied. Meeting Patrick and Ligi at "Makete" the market place looking at fruits and vegetables Ligi came over to help us and a friendship was born. The next day we spent the day together seeing the Island learning about slippery dog moss, kind Katuali, sea trails, under water caves, swimming areas and a fruit called vi ! Patrick, Ligi and 3 children Limu, Moana and Josiah actually live in Kazakhstan near Russia working in the agriculture business and sharing the gospel across the land. Lini was born in Niue and Patrick came to Niue with the Peace Core. They are here in Niue for 5 months being refreshed and re- united with their family. We all became friends and explored the coast line in the rain enjoying every moment. It is very beautiful with rock caves and cravens filled with clear water and pink corals. Patrick Ligi and their three beautiful children came out to Gabriella for dinner. It was still raining and the boat rocked so for the children the new experience was quite different.
We met another resident of the island the sea snake known as Katuali. He is striped black and white and a good 3 feet long! Katuali is very poisonous but seems to like people no bites have ever been reported on the island. His mouth is too small to bite, a fast swimmer and very kind. Once you get used to him , he is pretty to watch and fun. Trevor stepped on a big Katuali on the dingy landing step, it scared Trevor but did not seem to bother Katuali.
The next day we all met at Niue Sailing Club, Mamata has invited many to a barbecue luncheon of Yellow fin Tuna! We experienced other local foods such as cassava ,breadfruit, taro and Kiwi ice cream!
The fish keeps multiplying you see because now we meet Shane a friend of Ligi who has also returned to visit his homeland of Niue for a few weeks.................
