Sunday church with Pastor Joe out in the bush started with a ride down a very bumpy road through cane fields after passing a muslin school, a hindu temple, and going over a river we arrived to a grass driveway way out in the country leading to to a small church. I made friends with the children one beckoned me to pick her up and so we praised God together. Shoes were left at the door while most seats were on the floor mats. Songs were sung and guitars strummed accompanied by a lone ukulele. The Fijians are a warm and friendly people a delight to mingle with. Returning to town we had lunch with Pastor Joe his family and Ebby who had accompanied us to church.
Returning to Gabriella ,Ted and I returned to the near small island for our afternoon walk and to deliver a bundle of promised Kava. Kava is a root and a tradition gift shared when you arrive a new island or village. The Kava was received gratefully and reciprocated with a bag of paw paws, limes and an open invitation to walk the beach. Once again the hospitality of the Fijians is one of warmth and beauty.
