Moving on
13 November 2016
I see when looking at our blog that we never posted a thing in 2016. I drove down to Guaymas in the camper-van (Left after Christmas) with no heat! Driving south through the Sierras, I was wearing my jeans, fleece warmups, t-shirt, long sleeve fleece shirt, down filled vest, jacket, fleece gloves and a touque - and I was still cold!
Any way, I survived, spent New Years eve with Bill and Linda in Sierra Vista then on to the boat on Jan 1st, 2016.
The plan was to splash the boat and spend a few weeks on board getting all the systems up and running and in top shape, in preperatin for putting her up for sale.
The weather was not great, with many boats waiting to get away from Guaymas, but the norther winds never let up for days. That put me off from readying her for launch, so I started packing her up again. By the time Ellen arrived, we basically locked her up and headed south in the camper.
We spent the season in Punta Perula again and returned to Guaymas to do a sea trial with a potential buyer, but the deal fell through.
So we left KASASA and returned home to Vancouver Island, where we both worked for the summer.
In September we had another offer on the table, so I took some time off work and flew down to do another sea trial. Nelson, the buyer was impressed with the boat and so KASASA changed hands. Nelson had to return to Canada to work, so I packed KASASA up and flew home myself.
Paperwork was completed by email and the last thing to be done is the Mexican TIP that needs to be transferred in person - scheduled for early in 2017, when Ellen and I as well as Nelson are all in Guaymas for the winter.
(A quick note on the side! Marisa, of Avenger Yachts is/was amazing as a broker. She really earned her commission and I cannot recommend her enough to anyone who might want to sell a boat in that part of the world.)
So that's where we stand now, Just working out the season here in BC, till we can head south in our new truck and camper van for the rest of the 2016/2017 winter.
